Everything you need to know before you arrive!

Flights - How to get to RDS Philippines?

First you will need to book your international flight into Manila or Cebu. If you arrive into Manila then a short second flight to Panglao, Bohol will be needed. If you fly to Cebu then you can get a ferry to Bohol.

Visa

In general the Philippine government is very relaxed and welcoming when it comes to granting visas to foreigners. Most countries do not need to apply and will be granted a 30 day visa once you have landed in the Philippines and then you can keep extending your visa up to a year or more.

Vaccinations/ Innoculations

Like most Asian countries, Many Health Organisations recommend certain vaccinations before travelling. Follow the following link to see what they recommend...

Training

To make it easier for yourself before you start at RDS you should start exercising a few months before you arrive. You can try incorporating some of the following into your daily routines: Squats, Push-ups, Sit-ups, Pull-ups, Bike riding, Swimming, Sprints, Long distance running, Hiking, Gymnastics, Aerobics, Yoga or daily stretching.

Clothing

The Philippines is always hot so you will not need any warm, thick, or winter clothes. While training you can wear shorts and a T-shirt or thin track-suit bottoms. Because our land leads right onto the beach there is no doubt you will be dipping into the beautiful warm ocean everyday so dont forget your swim suits.

Local Weather

The Weather in Bohol is nice pretty much all year round however the official rainy season is between November and January. However, it will not rain constantly for 3 months, we are likely to have a few days of rain followed by a week of typical sunny weather again before another day or 2 of strong tropical type rain again. Genrally the weather is always great!

Sun Protection & Insect repellants

You will definitely need Sun tan lotions/ sun protection creams because the sun is beaming pretty much everyday, a hat and sun glasses are also a good idea.

We also recommend you bringing insect repellants.

Travel/ Medical Insurance

Medical costs locally are very cheap and our students very rarely have to go to hospital but you never know what is around the corner so we recommend in case of serious accident or illness/ injury that you carry out a full medical/ travel insurance for your duration of time with us and time spent travelling. Plus your insurance will also cover you for the inconvenience of theft or loss of possessions.
