Training at RDS Philippines
At Rising Dragon School Philippines, training is immersive, disciplined, and results-driven.
This is not a gym and it’s not a casual holiday class — it’s a residential training environment where students train daily, recover properly, and live the martial arts lifestyle.
All training takes place at our private hillside facility in Bohol, Philippines, under the direct guidance of experienced coaches with decades of real-world teaching and combat experience.
Whether you are here to train seriously, reset your body, or pursue long-term mastery, the training structure adapts to your level while maintaining high standards.
Filipino Martial Arts (Eskrima)
The core system of RDS Philippines
Eskrima (also known as Kali or Arnis) is the foundation of our training program and the primary martial art taught at RDS Philippines.
Our Eskrima system focuses on:
-
Stick fighting fundamentals
-
Blade awareness and defence
-
Empty-hand translation
-
Footwork, timing, and distance control
-
Realistic self-defence principles

Training is progressive and structured, making it suitable for:
-
Complete beginners
-
Intermediate martial artists
-
Long-term students
-
Those pursuing instructor certification

Eskrima is trained daily and forms the backbone of both general training and the 1-Year Eskrima Instructor Program.
Boxing
Practical striking, movement, and conditioning
Boxing is offered as a complementary striking discipline to support:
-
Hand speed and accuracy
-
Footwork and balance
-
Defensive awareness
-
Cardiovascular conditioning
Sessions focus on clean fundamentals rather than sport ego. Boxing supports Eskrima by sharpening reactions, timing, and composure under pressure.
Boxing training is optional but strongly recommended for students wanting a complete combat skillset.
Muay Thai
Clinching, knees, elbows, and pressure
Muay Thai training adds close-range striking and conditioning to the RDS system. Emphasis is placed on:
-
Clinch control
-
Elbow and knee mechanics
-
Balance and durability
-
Mental toughness

This is functional Muay Thai designed to integrate with self-defence and weapons-based awareness, not a fight camp environment.
Internal Martial Arts & Mind-Body Training
Structure, breath, and longevity
Internal training sessions are taught alongside external martial arts to ensure:
-
Joint health and recovery
-
Breath control and nervous system regulation
-
Structural alignment and efficiency
-
Long-term sustainability

Internal practices support both martial performance and overall wellbeing and are especially valuable for long-stay students.
How Training Works
-
Training runs 5 days per week
-
Multiple daily sessions depending on program and goals
-
Programs are adapted to:
-
Skill level
-
Physical condition
-
Length of stay
-
-
Rest, recovery, and mobility are built into the structure

This allows students to train intensely without burnout.
